Pick up our first strep throat bug today :( Picked Easton up from Leslie's and drove straight to urgent care only to find out we had to wait for an hour with a 102 temp. Needless to say the wait was BRUTAL but he did great holding on to his KK and laying on my prego bump in those germ infested chairs. It's the day before spring break starts so it looks like ours is going to start earlier than planned.
In less than 2 minutes the strep test came back positive. Yikes. Antibiotics for the next 10 days of break. Not a good way to start our break!

Big Boy Bed
Well we have started the transition to our new big boy bed. Moving out of the crib has been more difficult that Scott and I would have liked. Easton went from sleeping from 7:30pm-7:30am every day to waking up a few times a night and knocking on his door..."Mom, open the do-or"
We have also started potty training during this time...MISTAKE! Poor little guy has a lot going on right now and seems a little overwhelmed. Little does he know (or understand) that in about 2 months he is going to be sharing mom with a new baby brother. Lets hope this transition goes a little better...lol!
We have however had a few good nights of sleeping but the climbing out of bed still occasionally continues.

Tubes in Ears
Well this morning we went in for tubes in E's ears at Plainfield Surgery Center. He was so happy when he woke up and only asked for milk a few times before they came to get him. We brought his favorite blanket and of course, the football. While waiting Scott let him watch Devin Hester's film and scoring touchdowns and he was enjoying that more than Baby Einstein.
He did great with the tubes and the blood draw to test for allergies. They even said he was a great candidate for tubes because of the thick fluid build up behind his ears. Poor guy! When they brought him back to us he was still asleep from the gas and when he started to wake up he cried for about 20 minutes and ate a few cheerios and drank some water. I had never seen him cry so much EVER! He was still crying a little bit even when we put him in the car. Finally when we got home he ate some watermelon, blueberries and pancakes and then slept till noon. He laughs when we put the ear drops in his ears. Now that it's behind us we can start our spring break!!

Easton's First Tooth
6/28/2012
Ok...so no one tells you that a child cutting a tooth is miserable. Or maybe they did and I just didn't listen. I have never seen so much drool and snot in all my life. I have resorted to the boogie wipes which I thought I'd never buy but this poor kids nose will not stop running. I feel SO bad for him as he puts everything in his mouth. He went from sleeping through the night to getting up one or two times sneezing or coughing on the snot he is swallowing. Then once he is up he realizes he is hungry and then of course wants his diaper changed as well. So we are rotating Tylenol and 8 hour Advil to keep him comfortable. He loves the frozen wash rags and just chewing on our fingers or clothes. We also use oral jel between meds to try and keep him comfortable as well as the humidifier and Vick's plug in and vapor rub on chest, nose and feet. Yes feet...the neighbor let me know that it's an old wives tale to put it on their feet but at this point anything that will help I'm willing to try. I feel so bad for this little monkey and looking at his puffy red eyes makes me so sad for him. Thank goodness we don't remember what it feels like to cut teeth because it sure does look uncomfortable. First Plane Trip~ South Caroline

Our first family vacation in Isle of Palms, South Carolina for a week. I have never spent so much time and thought into packing for a trip. We hauled 3 suitcases, pack n' play, stroller, car seat and of course golf clubs! Who knew a person so small required SO much stuff and of course the husband made fun of me and all the stuff I packed and how long it took me to put it all together. Thanks to my Mom who helped me repack and be sensible the night before and my Dad for dropping us off at the airport, I'm not sure if we thought that one threw and carrying it all on our own.
The flight was great and Easton did very well sleeping part of the way and giggling the other. We stayed in a beautiful 5 bedroom and loft home. We had our own king sized bed and bathroom and our door was right outside the pool. Easton held his bottle for the first time on his own...it didn't last long. It was a fun week hanging with everyone and all the cousins spending time together. It was so nice to be able to hold and play with all my nieces without being rushed because we are only together for a birthday or holiday. Everyone enjoyed the trip and on the way out we killed some time at the aquarium in Charlotte before we headed to the airport. The kids LOVED the aquarium and Easton loved looking at all the bright colored fish!

Easton's Arrival
Well the Doc told us we would not be going home to Metamora or Sterling for Christmas this year. I was already 80% effaced and 2 cm dilated on Dec 21st. We asked my parents and brother to come to our house on Christmas day to celebrate since we were not going to be able to travel.
The week before Christmas I started grocery shopping and cleaning/organizing the house. This should have tipped me off to the nesting period but it didn't. I walked up and down every isle in Mejier as this would probably be my last trip to the grocery store before the little man arrived. I got to the back of the store with a full cart and was dreading the push across the entire store to get to the check out. I was so sore and the thought of carrying all the groceries in the house and putting them away made me exhausted.
Christmas day came and it was so nice to not have to travel anywhere and have people come to us! We opened presents in the morning and then I started preparing for an early dinner. I made cornish hens, green bean bundles, corn soufflé, salads and carrot cake from scratch. Once dinner was over I was exhausted and very uncomfortable from all the work and the full belly from eating all the food. I was ready for bed and the boys (dad, Ryan, and Scott) stayed up till 1 am playing the new golden tee game they got from my mom for christmas.
The next morning I was up at 6:45 for the 3 bathroom break of the night! However this one came with a tightening and some pain. I thought it was just a Braxton Hick which I have been having for awhile especially at the terrible Christmas party the parents had for the kids a school. I got up 2 more times and each time making a trip to the bathroom and getting rid of everything that was in my stomach. I thought that it was from all the food I had ate the day before. I sat on the edge of the bed and Scott woke up to ask if I was ok. I told him that I thought, "this was it" and he said in a tired and hungover state that I should try to lay back down and sleep. I quickly told him I would be taking a shower instead of laying back down. This scared him a little and I think he knew I was serious because he also took a shower and asked if he should wake up my family. I didn't want to wake anyone up just in case this was false labor since I had no idea what real labor was. Scott ate breakfast and sat on the couch watching TV as I was getting ready for a trip to the hospital but of course not without hair done and make up on. My mom heard the showing and knew it was not like us to be up and moving before 8am especially Scott. She asked him why he was dressed and up and he replied, "I think we may be having a baby today." Mom then came in to check on me and know my Dad and brother were up as well. We called the Doc and headed to the hospital.
The car ride to the hospital was the most uncomfortable ride ever! It hurt to sit down and sit straight up because I couldn't recline my seat because of the car seat in the back. We walked into the hospital at 9:15 and got into an elevator with a group of people all congratulating Scott and I. I was holding on to the rail and trying to breathe threw my contractions. We got to the maternity floor and they unlocked the door and I had a contraction while walking through the door and had to hold onto the door until it was over. In the meantime the alarm was going off because I had the door open for too long but there was nothing I could do.
I got checked in and met my nurse who was AWEFUL!! She was slamming things around and stuck me twice for my IV before she had to call someone in to stick me in the other arm. This was the worse part of the labor. I quickly got my epidural and it was SO easy and I started to feel pretty comfortable after that. Scott and my mom were there holding my hand and feeding me ice chips when it got really painful. Dad and Ryan also sat in the room with me for awhile in the after noon. Scott was a little hungover from the night before and had my brother go get him pizza from the cafeteria. I had nothing to eat all day and didn't feel like eating anything ever again.
At about 3:30pm I started to feel some pressure and wanted to push however the nurse and doctor wanted me to labor down for another hour because I tried pushing and just wasn't ready. I had dilated to a 9.5 all by myself but the nurse, that I hated, wanted to give me pitosin so that it would speed things up and my contractions more intense. During this hour of laboring down Scott went to the restroom and my mom was squeezing my hand and talking to me as this was the worse part. I started to feel like I was going to throw up and my mom found an bucket but it was full of stuff so she emptied it and then helped me throw up into it. Oh this was the worst hour ever!!
Scott was great when I started to push and he talked to me the entire time and told me what do because I didn't trust the nurse. The Doc came in the room right before he was ready to come out. When he came out the cord was wrapped around his neck so the doc didn't ask Scott to cut it. He immediately cried after the cord was cut. Easton Scott Fitzgerald born on Dec 26, 2011 at 5:09pm after only 40 minutes of pushing. I was exhausted and felt like I had run a marathon as Scott had been soaking up my sweat with a wash rag for the last hour.
All the Fitzgerald's were in the waiting room and my family had also been there all day waiting to meet the little man. Four people could only be in the room at a time and everyone came in shifts. Both Grandma's came in crying and wanted to see him. He so alert for 3 hours after I had him and latched on to me right away. It was the most amazing experience in the world. I was so proud of myself and Scott for what we had been through and I felt so blessed to experience something so amazing. I never knew that I could love someone as much as I loved this new little addition to our family.
